Board the train on the Transilien line R that departs from Paris Gare de Lyon and stops at Fontainebleau-Avon. Hop on bus numbers 1, 3, or 21 from the station and head straight to the Château. It’s a 2-min walk into the Palace of Fontainebleau from there.

Château de Fontainebleau is about a 1-hour drive from the Eiffel Tower. Start by heading southeast on Quai Branly, then turn left onto Avenue de la Bourdonnais. Continue onto Quai de la Rapée, and then merge onto Quai de Bercy. Follow signs for Lyon/A6 and merge onto the A6 motorway. Take the exit for Fontainebleau and continue on the D607. Follow the signs for the Fontainebleau town center, and you will reach the Château.

For a more scenic route, you can take the A4 motorway (Autoroute de l'Est) heading east and then switch to the A5 motorway towards Langres. From there, take the exit for Fontainebleau and follow the signs to reach the Château. This route offers beautiful countryside views but may take slightly longer due to distance.

  • Interparking Château Car Park: Located just a 1 min walk from the Château. The car park is open from 7 AM to 8 PM.

  • Parking Place d'Armes: This car park is located on Place d'Armes, approximately 400 m away from the palace. It should take you around 5 mins to get to your destination. 
  • Parking Marché: This car park is located on Rue du Marché, 550 m away from Château de Fontainebleau. You should take around 7 mins to walk to the palace from here.  
  • Parking Etape: This car park is located on Rue de l'Etape, a 9 min walk from the palace.
