If there is one city you can fall in love with over and over again, it’s Paris. Located on the banks of the River Seine, the French Capital screams fashion, food, and art. For a city undergoing a creative renewal, it can never fail you with its endless lists of museums, or art galleries to explore. Rodin Museum in the heart of Paris, is one of the many options that offer a unique experience to explore modern artworks. Grab your Rodin Museum tickets to see sculptures by Auguste Rodin.
Grab the chance to see the paintings by Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh at Rodin Museum. Monet’s Belle-Île became a part of Rodin’s private collection when the two friends exchanged their works in 1888. It is unclear if Rodin purchased Van Gogh’s Pere Tanguy in 1894 because Van Gogh and he shared a love of Japanese art.
Auguste Rodin's drawings collections include extreme body positions, featuring mainly feminine figures. His subjects were dancers, music hall artists, or circus performers. His drawings reflect the use of watercolors in soft tones. Works in the collection include Battle between a man and a reptile and Two semi-reclining female nudes.
This is a private collection of artworks Rodin purchased from art dealers. Some of these works reminded Rodin of other well-known works and some left an impression on him. This collection includes the Headless Figure of Hercules, Statue of King Ptolemy III Euergetes I, Fragment of a stela: family group with a seated woman, etc.
Soft focus, sensuality, human emotions, imitation, assemblage, cutting-out, and pasting are themes central to Rodin's works. His oeuvres like The Thinker, The Kiss, The Tower of Work, The Walking Man, The Age of Bronze, The Gates Of Hell, Hylas and the Nymphs, and Adam, which are reflective of the themes, add richness and diversity to the collections of the Rodin Museum.
Rodin used photography to judge his works and make amends. This is visible in the Young Girl embraced by a Marble Ghost, where he retouched the photo taken by Eugène Druet. The collection also includes photographs titled The Awakening by Edward Steichen, St John the Baptist, Man with a Broken Nose and the Bust of Bellone by Charles Michelez, and The portrait of Camille Claudel by Cesar.
Camille Claudel was a young artist, who was Rodin’s pupil and later his mistress and muse. The pupil and master bonded over their love for sculpture. Her technical prowess and fluidity of form are seen in her sculptures titled Portrait of Rodin, The Gossips or Women Chatting, The Waltz, etc.
